Chapter 5

A phone chimed in what felt like a few minutes and Miranda groaned. The night before was now a lump in her stomach and a pounding in her head as she blinked slowly.

“Fucking alarm.” A voice murmured as Miranda opened her eyes widely. She felt someone move closer to her as bits of last night started coming back to her and a smile crossed her face momentarily. “You make me want to stay in bed all day.”

“I wish.” Miranda replied as she slid her arms around Pam and pulled her close. “What time do you have to go in?”

“I go from open to close during the week and try to keep it to half a day on the weekends. The earlier I get there means the more chance I have of having some time free.” Pam replied as she kissed Miranda’s neck and slipped her hand between her legs. “Feel this. You’re always so ready for me.”

The women parted ways with a sweet kiss before Pam left to get ready for work. As expected, Tilly hadn’t come home last night so Miranda showered and obsessed about the fact that she’d slept with Pam. Her boss. It was one of the best encounters of her life and from what they had both said as they were falling asleep, not one that Pam or Miranda wanted to end.

However, that hadn’t been discussed in detail since then because…well, they were distracted.

Miranda got ready for work in a little while. She did the braid again since it always worked well in a kitchen and just went with light make up. She dressed in what she could at home and decided to use Uber to get a car today to compare cost.

Her shift was after lunch today and through dinner, just to give her another perspective. Marcus greeted her with a smile and told her that she’d done great the day before. Miranda smiled as she thanked him, more affected by the fact that she’d just seen Pam on the way in. They kept it professional but the gaze the women shared was burning through Miranda’s body with the heat that was between them. This was going to be tough. Miranda had a chance to work at the dessert station today in between rushes, getting familiar with the ten items that Maple & Ash provided when she wasn’t working with entrees and appetizers. It was clear that everyone at the restaurant wanted her for a main chef, which flattered Miranda as she wavered between doing what they wanted versus what she’d studied. Either way, she was staying here for a while to get some experience and take time to decide.

Marcus offered her a meal before they closed for the night, something that she could either take home or join him there to enjoy. She accepted the offer to stay and fixed another salmon salad before they went to a table in the front of the darkened dining room. “It’s so peaceful here now.” Miranda spoke softly before she took a sip of her water.
